Oh So Pretty in Pink!

Just a little embarrassed to admit this, but as I have said before, I do ABSOLUTELY love Valentine’s Day. In particular, I love discovering everyone’s individual interpretation of what it means to be romantic. For some it’s a favourite meal for two, for others a piece of poetry or a visit to an art gallery. For others, something way more glamorous – a weekend away or trip abroad.  I also love looking into beautiful and creative shop windows, as well as checking out fashion's interpretation of this romance-filled time.

The Colour Pink

And one of the colours I associate with this time of year is the colour pink.  There really is no denying its allure.  From candy-floss and sugar-almond shades to darker, more dusky rose tones, it really is the most beautiful colour.  It dominated the Spring 2017 runways and fast forward to 2018 there is still no stopping it.  But the pink of today is not the same as the pink of yesterday. It has been repositioned and now feels more modern and strong.  So, for example, a pink pashmina will always channel a very feminine aesthetic for a wedding day.

But that same pink pashmina can adopt a slightly more urban feel when dressed with, for example, a leather jacket or black separates.

And, as Valentine’s Day creeps closer, and whether you subscribe to the whole hearts and flowers vibe or not, it is still an opportunity to show a loved one that you care. A simple token of affection may be all that is needed.
