I love this time of year. The light becomes a little softer. The air has a distinctively sweet scent. September’s rich jewel fruits and autumn berries are abundant.
And, of course, I get REALLY excited about autumn fashion – big chunky knits, thick cosy scarves, silk shirts, tweed blazers and beautifully-made leather boots and bags.
As nature’s mood changes, the pastels of spring and the electric colours of summer begin to seem slightly at odds with the colours in the natural world. We naturally seem to want to dip into nature’s new palette with beautiful mulberries, plums, bordeaux, mustards, greys and, of course, red – still the colour of the moment in all its stunning shades. But how do we do this without spending a fortune?
In my mind, there is no better way to do this than with a scarf or pashmina. This simple addition immediately refreshes your look but without the expense of a whole new wardrobe. What’s not to like?
