The New Girl Upstairs - Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti
To block or not to block? That is the question.
Any flick through the fashion magazines will reveal that this season it’s all about the colour block. For both day and evening wear.
Victoria Beckham has been setting the trend wearing a veritable kaleidoscope of colour. Turquoise trousers and lipstick-red pullover? Check. Bright orange trousers with a bright blue shirt? Check. Same bright blue shirt with raspberry woollen dress? Check, check.
But for those of us (like me) who are perfectly happy inhabiting their own personal fashion comfort zone (all-black everything), the idea of colour can be a terrifying proposition. Pillar-box red with fuchsia, gold and French navy, powder blue and canary yellow, mulberry and military grey? I can feel myself breaking into a sweat already. But although colour-blocking may seem like a terrifying proposition initially, it is worth sticking with as it as a little colour can go a long way to giving your wardrobe a sharp spring makeover.
And it does not have to be complicated. Just hold my hand, take a deep breath and dive into the wonderful world of colour with a big splash. Many designers have produced some excellently designed separates that can be put together to create spring colour-blocked outfits. But you don’t need to commit to an expensive new wardrobe to access the colour-block trend. A simple accessory that references the trend is often enough. I have said it before (and no doubt will again!), but that is the beauty of a scarf – you can very easily tap into a fashion by accessorising with a simple and versatile accessory but without committing to a whole new wardrobe. And no Scarf Room colour-blocking feature would be complete without a mention of our beautiful Super Soft Classic Italian Pashminas from our own number 37 range. These are available in a palette of over 40 colour block colours and, I think, a great place to begin your colour-matching journey.
To give you a helping hand, Kelly (our wonderful photographer) and I have put together a few ideas using beautiful pieces from the high street (thank you Ted Baker, Phase Eight, Boden and Coast) accessorising them with a selection of our beautiful Italian pashminas:
Super Soft Classic Italian Pashmina Shawl Wrap Scarf – Baby Blue
Super Soft Classic Italian Pashmina Shawl Wrap Scarf – Amber Yellow
Trust me – give it a go. The combinations can be incredible and totally individual. Give yourself permission to experiment and let your personal style shine.
Rules? What rules?
Ciao bellissime. A presto.
